Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and acidic in nature which make them deeply nourishing and revitalising for your skin. This homemade body scrub is so simple and effective for your skin. The great thing about making your own body scrub is that you know exactly what goes into it and you can relax even more knowing what’s going onto your skin. If you use sugar instead of salt, it’s also a scrub you might find yourself sneaking a taste of as it’s fully edible.
As freeze dried fruit can become soft within a few hours of opening if the bag is not sealed properly, this scrub can be a great way to use up any softened freeze dried fruit – if it’s not going into your morning smoothie of course. We always want to encourage customers to minimise their food waste which is why this is a great recipe to keep on hand.
Recipe: Strawberry Body Scrub
1 cup granulated sugar or salt
1 cup freeze dried fruit (approx ½ cup once crushed)*
1/3 cup softened coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla powder (optional)
Mix all together in a medium bowl using a spoon or your fingers if the coconut oil needs breaking down to mix through (like you would to make pastry). Pack into a glass jar ready for use.
If planning to use as a lip scrub use sugar, otherwise salt is equally good.
