The Brazil Nut, previously known as the cream nut, originates from the Amazon forests in South America. The Brazil nut tree produces large dark brown fruit. Within that fruit is a cluster of tightly packed brazil nuts (usually between 12-24 per pod) which are each encased in a hard, woody shell. The fruit pods that contain the nuts are collected when they mature and fall to the ground from the tree. It’s said that if you were to taste the nut fresh from the tree, it tastes similar to fresh coconut and it has a sweetness to it.
If you’ve ever noticed a difference in taste, colour or texture between different batches of Brazil Nuts (or any other nut) this is can be due to a number of reasons. It is a natural product and there are conditions and processes along the way that can vary from batch to batch. These could include the harvest and growing conditions in the country of origin, oil and fat content of the batch, drying methods and moisture content. It’s good to understand that these discrepancies are to be expected. We also want you to know that all of our products are tested to ensure they comply with all EU health and safety requirements and to the product specification including variables such as allowable moisture.
