We have made a slight adjustment to our shipping fees and we want to be transparent about this.
Our standard tracked 1-3 working day delivery service is now £3.50 but we now offer a free upgrade to our 1-2 working day service on orders of £35 and above. Orders below £35 will be sent on our 2-3 working day Royal Mail service.
Delivery to the Highlands, Islands and remote parts of the UK has now been reduced by half to £6.00 for any order, large or small. We support these areas as we firmly believe healthy eating should be affordable for everyone wherever they are located. However, during the start of the pandemic we were inundated with large orders to these areas and we had to adjust the cost because the price we pay to our courier is significantly more than what we were charging. At £6.00 we are still subsidising the cost, but it helps us to continue to ship to these areas without making a loss on these orders which would have been unsustainable for us long term.
These changes may have you asking questions so we’ve answered a few below.
Why don’t you offer free shipping?
No courier offers free shipping! Therefore there is no such thing as free shipping. Although you will find sellers offering free shipping, the shipping costs will simply be included in the final product price to enable sellers to do this. The lower the threshold for free shipping, the greater the element of shipping added to every product. It is a marketing strategy to entice you to buy a product over a competitors and you will find we are usually cheaper than other companies when you add our shipping cost to your basket.
Why don’t you offer free shipping over a certain amount anymore?
We want our customers to buy only what they need and we don’t want our customers to be swayed by ‘free shipping’ and increasing their orders for this reason. This year we’ve reflected on this, especially during the pandemic as a lot of people have been purchasing things in volume that they didn’t need during these difficult times. We believe for food this can lead to a lot of unnecessary food waste and we want our customers to only be buying products that they need.
I can see you’ve brought down the cost of shipping to remote areas but why is it still more than it used to be at the start of the year?
We have absorbed all the costs involved in shipping to remote areas since we started the business in 2011. We have now found a happy medium that allows us to continue to ship to these areas whilst being able to retain a small amount of the cost without having to raise our prices. We looked at how we could do this fairly and instead of offering complicated shipping prices dependant on weight, we are offering a flat fee regardless of the size of the order, unlike many other companies who charge more for larger orders.
