Our fragrant, slightly chewy, aromatic Organic Black Long Grain Rice is great as a base for salads (think tabbouleh), with curries or as a nutritious base for any sauce based dish. Black Rice has the highest amounts fibre, protein and vitamins of any rice.

Black rice takes longer to cook than white rice as it still has the husk. This means it has more fibre that white rice.  It is great to cook in a big batch and keep in the fridge to use as needed. You can cook in a few ways. You can cook as you would regular rice, add to the pan with water.  Bring to the boil. Cover, turn down the heat and cook for 20 minutes.  You can also cook pilau style, simmering gently in stock with herbs, cover 1 part rice to 2 and half parts stock. This takes about 45 minutes.
