Our Organic Amaranth Seeds are a nutritious and delicious ingredients to have in your pantry. They have a light, mild nutty flavour and are a good source of protein (14g of protein per 100g) and magnesium. Amaranth seeds are classified as a ‘pseudocereal’, a plant grown to produce starchy grains for over 8000 years now. Other examples of ‘pseudocereals’ are quinoa and buckwheat.
Use amaranth seeds in place of other grains. Serve it along side stews and curries as the starch or use it as a base for salads. Amaranth seeds can be cooked the same the way you would cook grains like rice and quinoa. Boil 1/2 cup of amaranth seeds with roughly 1.5 cups of water until all the water has been absorbed (roughly 20 minutes)
