Organic cashew paste is smooth and creamy and ideal for creating non-dairy milks, creams, smoothies, ice-creams and sauces. It is produced by grinding organic cashews until a smooth paste is formed. Also great for thickening sauces and curries. It is typically a little runnier than blanched almond paste and readily combines with other ingredients in any recipe.
The protein to carbohydrate ratio makes cashew paste an appealing snack option if you’re trying to adhere to a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet as well as being suitable for many types of gluten/grain free diets.
Cashews are not actually nuts but the seeds of the cashew tree, known scientifically as Anacardium occidentale. These seeds, encased in shells that are removed before processing, adhere to the base of the cashew apple, which is the tree’s fruit. Rich in healthy monounsaturated fats and essential minerals, cashews also offer a number of health benefits.
Please note that this is a 100% natural product and can therefore vary in colour, texture and consistency. We do not add any oils or emulsifiers to our pastes, they are a 100% ground nut product. This means in colder temperatures and/or when cashew nuts with a lower fat content are used, the paste can be quite solid and less malleable as it directly reflects the natural makeup of the product.
If you are looking for a spreadable, more runnier textured cashew product, please opt for our roasted cashew butter. With nut butters (unlike our pastes) the nuts are roasted in advance which allows the nut oils to naturally release which therefore makes the product runnier.

Cashew paste is also great for use in baking as it imparts a mild and buttery flavour to compliment any recipe, and gives a chewy texture to cookies.
