Our Organic Ground White Peppercorns have an aromatic, fiery flavour and are thought to be slightly hotter than black peppercorns.

Black and white peppercorns are both from the fruit of the pepper plant, but the difference lies in how they are processed. The peppercorns are picked when ripe and sun-dried. White peppercorns have the outer layer removed so that just the inner white seed remains whereas black peppercorn still have the hard black outside layer. These pale white/cream coloured seeds are then ground down to a fine powder.

White peppercorns are useful if you’re making a white sauce and you do not want the black specks from black pepper.

Suggested use:

Ground white peppercorns are great in sauces, soups, homemade sausages, marinades, as a rub for meat (often pork) or even adding a fiery kick to desserts. White pepper is commonly used in Chinese, French, Swedish and Vietnamese cooking.
