Our organic blanched almonds from Spain are delicious, creamy, sweet tasting nuts. Our blanched almonds come with the skins removed. Almonds are a good source of protein and fibre, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and vitamin E. They are also a good source of the minerals magnesium, calcium, selenium, iron, potassium, niacin, phosphorous, copper and zinc. Almonds are excellent for homemade trail mixes, baking, in muesli and porridge, curries and salads. They are also good for creating your own almond dairy free milk and almond butters. We also sell organic almond flours, powders and pastes as well as whole natural almonds with the skins on.
Note with organic European almonds there can always be up to 2% of the almonds that can taste bad, this is just what happens with European almonds, sweet almond trees in Europe are bred by grafting from bitter almond trees and therefore sweet almond trees carry very small amounts of bitter almonds. In California, the other main region of almond production, 100% of the almonds harvested are sweet almonds with no bitter almond share. Unfortunately organic Californian almonds are usually processed by pasteurisation (heating to high temperatures) and not considered raw. We have therefore chosen to stock European raw almonds but you will find a small amount that will taste bad (though you will like these if looking for marzipan flavour!)
